Welcome to St. John - Sacred Heart Parish

A Message From Father Mike

The dispensation for Sunday Mass obligation has been lifted in the Diocese of Green Bay, as decreed by Bishop David L. Ricken, beginning the weekend of Sept. 19 and 20.
Please see Bishop Ricken's Decree. Please be assured that all safety precautions will remain in place at each parish church site.

The obligation to attend Mass for Catholics reflects our faith in Jesus Christ, the blessing of the Holy Eucharist and an acknowledgment of His great love for us.

 - Saturday, September 19 - St. Mary of the Seven Dolors, Stockbridge 4:00 pm
 - Sunday, September 20 - St. John-Sacred Heart, Sherwood 8:00 am
St. Mary Help of Christians, Hilbert, 9:30 am

Masses are also available at 87.9 FM Stockbridge, 87.7 FM Sherwood and 91.7 FM Hilbert, in each church site parking lot.  The Eucharist will be brought out to those listening on the radio in the
parking lot.  The radio Mass is a safe option
for those who arrive after Mass attendance capacity is
met or for those currently uncomfortable going indoors.

- Wednesday, September 16 - St. John-Sacred Heart, Sherwood, 8:30 am
- Thursday, September 17 - St. Mary Help of Christians, Hilbert, 8:00 am
- Friday, September 18 - St. Mary of the Seven Dolors - Stockbridge, 8:30 am

Currently Calumet County is limiting gatherings to 50 people. The Governor's Emergency Order #1 requires the wearing of face coverings now in effect for Mass attendees including weddings and funerals.  Parishes in the diocese will continue to follow the Safety Precautions as follows:
All will enter through a single entrance
You will use hand sanitizer, receive a mask if you don't have one, and have your temperature taken
(a no--touch thermometer will be used)

Pews, which have been sanitized before and after each Mass, will be sectioned for social distancing
to show where you can/cannot be seated; liturgical Mass and music books are removed from pews
No choir  -  only a cantor with or without a musician
Only a priest will consume the Blood of Christ
Only a priest or deacon will distribute Communion using hand sanitizer; ushers will assist with flow
Bulletins will be available as you leave church

How to Receive Communion
Leave your mask on as you approach the priest
Receive the Eucharist in you hand
Step to the side in the direction of the flow
Take your mask down on one side and consume the Eucharist
Put your mask back on as you return to your pew

What Will Not Be Different at Mass
We will hear all of the readings like always; we will pray for each other; we will participate in all the
Eucharist prayers and we will receive Jesus in the Eucharist

Occasions When Obligation to Attend Sunday Mass Does Not Apply
- If individual Catholics struggle with serious health concerns or are physically or morally prevented
from worshipping at Mass for a grave reason
- If individuals are frail due to illness or age or, in their well-informed conscious believe going to

public places - including Sunday worship at Mass - would place their health or the health of their
  loved ones in serious jeopardy

- If individuals are sick,or have been in contact with someone who has been sick

- If the occupancy limits have already been reached at a given Mass which preclude social distancing

However, the faithful who are unable to attend Mass are nevertheless urged to make holy the
Lord's Day and to pray, read the Scriptures, and take part in acts of charity.
