St. John-Sacred Heart Fourth Grade


The children in fourth grade at St. John- Sacred Heart will continue to thrive in their reading skills through reading theme units & trade books.  They will build upon their phonic skills learned in previous grades.  Your child will work on parts of speeches, sentence & paragraph structures and vocabulary building.    

    The focus on animal behavior, matter & energy, earthquakes, and volcanoes will be learned in science classes.  The study of the weather conditions will be done with the aid of creating weather instruments.

Your fourth grader will explore Wisconsin history, learn about Indians, geography & explorers.  They will increase their map skills and take a look into the government structures.

   

    Your child will build upon fundamental math facts, with a emphasis on mental computation & problem solving techniques.

Computer skills will be integrated into various curriculm areas.    

    The study of Beatitudes, Commandments, Sacraments & Liturgical Seasons will be focused on.  The fourth graders will also do service projects & actively participate in the weekly liturgy.

Art projects, physical education, and health classes will be included through out their week.  They will be introduced to pre-band activites through recorder training.  They will continue to learn new concepts in music.    

   

Field trips are taken as related to the lessons.  The children are involved in the Passion Play of Jesus and the annual Christmas Program.
